The officers were apprehended after the government authorities and the police responded to public indignation on the distribution of a video showing one of the accused viciously assisting the victim.

The Commission has stated that it has investigated the officers and issued a warning to its members and other government employees on the violation of power and duty. The Addis Ababa Police Department announced the dismissal of 171 officers.
