At the federal level, the Ethiopian Electricity Agency (EEA) regulates all companies involved in the electricity sector , while the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy is responsible for the development of the country’s water and energy sectors including the power sector. The former Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo), a vertically integrated utility in charge of the power sector, was divided into two utilities in December 2013.
