The period known as Zemene Mesafint, or the era of judges, begins with the testimony of the Emperor Iyosas. This period, which endured approximately one hundred years, experienced a decrease in renown, the impact and the authority of Solomonique, and saw the ascent of various local warlords who fought against some the others for an incomparable quality. This period was less considered by history specialists, but seems to have been represented by a reduction in the development of manufacturing. The works of art of this period are unequivocal forced to work carried out during the second gondarin style with regard to subjects and structures, but the range used by craftsmen moves to brilliant and simple tones.

Researchers generally share the gondarin calendar in two complex stages. The main gondarin style (above) is described by the use of brilliant tones and the concealment deficit. The clothes, frequently decorated with rewarding components, are normally painted in red, blue or yellow and the folds demonstrate with equal basic lines. The lines are distinct and the demonstration of the face is executed using an ordinary coral red causing an unnatural impact.
