International reputation for Ethiopian film is mostly due to Haile Gerima, Salem Mekuria, Yemane Demissie, and Teshome Gabriel. It was founded in 1993 by the Ethiopian Filmmakers Association (EFIMA) in order to promote the country’s film industry’s growth.
