The Seed Direct Marketing Scheme aims to create a system whereby seed producers use their own agents to deliver seeds to farmers, so that farmers can receive certified quality seeds at the right time, in the right amount and type.

 

 

 

The project started in two districts in 2002 and was implemented in 320 districts in 2012/13, said Dr. Itbarek Semane, project coordinator of the Ethiopian Institute of Race Systems, told Fana Broadcasting Corporation.

The coordinator also pointed out that the aim of the International Cooperative Seed Multiplication Project is to help cooperatives and unions to engage in seed production and marketing and move forward in a sustainable manner.

 

 

 

The project formed 14 associations in four regions and these associations were successful in meeting the regional needs of 52% of the best seeds in Tigray, 30% in the south, 20% in Amhara and 10% in Oromia.

 

 

 

He said starting in 2022, a national seed multiplication project would be developed and implemented by private companies and cooperatives.

 

 

 

They also mention that an agricultural supply and service center expansion project has been underway since 2011 to set up centers in 300 agricultural commercialization districts and expand and deploy expertise.

 

 

 

The aim of this project is to make all agricultural inputs (seeds, agrochemicals, veterinary drugs, feed, agricultural implements) available to users in a single center in a manner based on professional advice in terms of quality, required quantity, time and reasonable price. based on .
